The core principles of successful injection
Successful injection is achieved in 2 successive phases:

  1. Breaking through the skin, and when applicable, subcutaneous tissue

  2. Transferring the totality of the administered liquid to guarantee a proper quantity and depth of injection

This requires perfect control of pressure throughout the injection (pressure profile).

Traditional technologies that use compressed gas or springs cannot guarantee optimal control of the two injection phases: to produce the initial penetration pressure they generally use a ram effect for amplification.
The shockwave this produces enables tissue penetration but also generates instabilities that can jeopardize the reliability of the injection process and cause undue pain or stress tissues, the drug and/or the injector’s components. Furthermore, the lack of control over the pressure profile/shockwaves makes injecting small and large volumes haphazard.

The gas generating technology used in Crossject injectors produces pressure profiles that are particularly well suited to the needle-free injection of drugs.
